Teaching Notes

This very exciting score begins simply and slowly builds. In ABA form, all players have a chance to be involved in the melodic and harmonic parts. The music suggests triumph over adversity and of moving through situations that are dangerous and difficult with courage. The music rises over such obstacles and soars with a strong melodic line and deep supporting harmonic lines until finally winding down at the end. All parts share interesting harmony lines. Viola and Cello parts have melodic lines in the middle section.
