Teaching Notes

From its bold opening, players will immediately warm to the feel of the Journey to the Summit which uses short bows and staccato articulations. Some interesting rhythmic passages make this score an excellent work for players at this level. Plenty of scope for interpretation and use of dynamics. The idea of someone climbing to the highest point is worth holding in players mind. The climber is excited and confident that he will be successful as he moves closer to his goal - players need to maintain a strong confident sound throughout.
